Christmas Songs

It's time to start preparing to learn Christmas songs. Being in a home where my mother taught piano lessons Christmas music (at least piano Christmas music to learn) was brought out as soon as Halloween (the Halloween Recital) was over. So, since my piano students have their Halloween music, I'm ready to start thinking about Christmas music. I can't wait to start teaching Emily some Christmas music, especially since she is just starting to sing with us. This idea comes from nursery. The children pick a picture and on the back of the picture is the name of the song that they sing. Same idea, only I'm going to use it with the 25 days of Christmas idea. Here are the pictures and a recording of the song just in case you need a refresher course yourself. When printing out the pictures make sure they are the right size. I like to make my pictures about 1/4 of a page. Some can be a little bigger and some smaller. Plus, don't color it. Just put it on colored paper (best yet construction paper) and then put contact paper to protect it. It will be a wonderful family activity. Plus, you'll be ready to go caroling! Don't think you're family can go caroling (especially if you are like us and you don't want it to end up a duet) we'll go with you. :)

If you do a Halloween recital with your piano students you might be interested in my children's songbook "Thirteen for Halloween" . . . I also have a Thanksgiving and Christmas collection. I'm an LDS composer living in American Fork, UT. Let me know if you'd like details. All the best, Ryan
