Day 1 (25 Days of Christmas)

Here it is. The outline for the 25 days of Christmas. We're going to start out telling about the wise men and the gifts the gave to the baby Jesus. Then we're going to make paper chains with things we are going to do for others that will be our gift to Jesus. (There will be 25 links so they can have their own advent calender and do good deeds. This lesson will have to have several follow-ups throughout the month. Just ask them how they are doing every once in a while.)

Just follow the link for the lesson.
Day 1

25 Days of Christmas

To organize the 25 Days of Christmas I use a binder and several page protectors. In the first page protector for day 1 I put the outline and the next page protector would have the activity or coloring page. For the first day it is an activity. Cut out the links for the paper link chains and put it in this page protector. I recommend cutting out a few more for "mistakes".

Christmas Songs

It's time to start preparing to learn Christmas songs. Being in a home where my mother taught piano lessons Christmas music (at least piano Christmas music to learn) was brought out as soon as Halloween (the Halloween Recital) was over. So, since my piano students have their Halloween music, I'm ready to start thinking about Christmas music. I can't wait to start teaching Emily some Christmas music, especially since she is just starting to sing with us. This idea comes from nursery. The children pick a picture and on the back of the picture is the name of the song that they sing. Same idea, only I'm going to use it with the 25 days of Christmas idea. Here are the pictures and a recording of the song just in case you need a refresher course yourself. When printing out the pictures make sure they are the right size. I like to make my pictures about 1/4 of a page. Some can be a little bigger and some smaller. Plus, don't color it. Just put it on colored paper (best yet construction paper) and then put contact paper to protect it. It will be a wonderful family activity. Plus, you'll be ready to go caroling! Don't think you're family can go caroling (especially if you are like us and you don't want it to end up a duet) we'll go with you. :)

Free Shipping

I don't know if everyone knew this except for me (Nathan didn't know, so I'm not the only one in the dark) ldscatalog.com ships free. That is fabulous because the distribution center is like a 30 minute drive from my house. Which wouldn't be a big deal if I drove down that way every once in a while, but I don't. With gas the price that it is, it would be worth shipping it instead. So, I was planning on paying the shipping for the new Nursery Manual (which, by-the-way, makes for some fabulous fhe lessons). I was pleasantly surprised to find the shipping to be FREE. Yay!
